TIP! Changing sleeping positions can help stop snoring. Snoring often happens when people are sleeping on their backs.

Snoring could be an irritating condition both for the person snoring, and also for the person sleeping with you. Luckily, there are things people can do so that their snoring is better managed, and doesn’t have as big an impact on their lives. The following hints and tips can help you manage and treat your snoring.

TIP! Smoking can increase snoring because it can increase inflammation of the throat and airways. Smoke can irritate the tissues located in your throat, causing your throat to swell up.

A change in your sleeping position of choice may help you stop snoring. Lying on your back could cause your head to tilt too far back or forward, resulting in an obstruction of your airway. Sleeping on your side allows you to position your head and neck more comfortably, resulting in clearer breathing and less snoring.

TIP! The strange thing is that taking sleeping pills can result in snoring. Skip them, and you will be less likely to snore.

The first step to resolving your snoring problem is to uncover its underlying cause. For instance, there are medical problems, including sleep apnea, that can cause snoring. The only way to diagnose these is to see your doctor and begin treatment. In fact, it could even get worse.

TIP! You can reduce snoring by making funny “fish faces”. Even though this may sound odd, making fish faces can aid in strengthening throat and facial muscles.

If you smoke and you snore, quit smoking. When smoking, the throat tissues towards the back can get irritated. When this occurs, it can cause swelling in your throat. Swelling in your throat is one of the most common causes for snoring.

TIP! You want to ensure that your nasal passages remain open if you want snoring to stop. A clogged nose, or one that is otherwise constricted, may contribute to snoring.

Keep your BMI at it’s optimum level to reduce snoring. Body weight doesn’t always play a huge role in snoring; however, too much fat in your neck places pressure on the airways, contributing to snoring. If you have noticed a correlation between weight gain and increased snoring, then losing the weight will be of use to you.

Throat Muscles

TIP! You can do some exercises to reduce your snoring by placing your tongue behind your front teeth. For the next three minutes, slide your tongue backwards, and then toward the teeth.

As silly as it may seem, singing may be the answer to curing your snoring. When you sing you are exercising your throat muscles, giving them strength. You can reduce your snoring by having stronger throat muscles. Additionally, certain instruments, such as the saxophone and trumpet, can strengthen throat muscles.

TIP! Get a humidifier for your bedroom. Having a humidifier running will produce a consistent level of warm moisture in the air.

Ironically, sleeping pills can cause you to snore and refraining from using them can reduce the amount that you will snore. Part of the way that sleeping pills work is by relaxing the muscles throughout your body. As the muscles holding your nasal passages open relax, the passages narrow. Therefore, you are more likely to snore.

TIP! Try the tennis ball remedy to alleviate snoring. Prior to going to bed, attach the ball to your nightwear.

Snoring is annoying and frustrating for anyone who suffers from it. Unfortunately, many of these same people don’t realize that there are various treatment methods available to alleviate, or eliminate, their snoring and its negative effects. Try the tips you just read to help you free yourself from snoring problems.
